So, You're a Writer...

Business and the Book Industry

IWSG: December 2016

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time.

My insecurity this month is three-fold.

1. I turned thirty on Monday, and I’ve having some kind of existential crisis.
(Don't laugh, older friends.)

2. Tucker heads back to the surgeon on Friday for his six-week checkup. If he’s doing well, he’ll get his activity restrictions lifted. If not... it’s going to be a long winter.

2. AS WE KNOW IT releases next Monday (December 12th), and I’ve been too busy to plan any kind of blitz. I tried to compensate by running a Thunderclap, but I don’t think I’m going to meet the 100-supporter threshold. Ahh!

Actually, there are five days left of the campaign. If any of you want to participate, I’ll put the instructions here. It costs nothing, takes less than thirty seconds, and has the potential to really help out!
If 100 of you do this, we'll be able to spread the word far and wide--which will hopefully secure some oh-so-crucial release day sales (and pay Tuck's vet bill)! Unfortunately, if I don't reach 100 supporters, I get... nothing. No posts. Womp, womp...

So, if you're able to help out, that's fantastic. If not, there are still plenty of other ways to take part in the release, i.e. read the book, write a review, tell your barber, tell your mail carrier, buy someone a book as a holiday gift, request it from your library, etc. If you’d rather post something on your blog--hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask, right?--all of the relevant information can be found here: http://www.carrieabutler.com/asweknowit.html

Thanks, guys! <3 Have a great day!

Question of the Week

Have you ever organized or supported a Thunderclap?
