D is for Demographics
Put to Use
Through the use of survey results and analytics programs, you can get a decent idea of who your audience is. Most New Adult readers, for example, seem to be in the 24-35 age bracket—not 18-26 like most people expect, based on the age of the average NA protagonist. Knowing this, I might choose to advertise in places where thirty-somethings frequent, as opposed to college hotspots.
