Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time. This year, I took a step back from writing to concentrate on other projects. I needed to either find a full-time job or expand my business in a way that provided more sustainable income. (Spoiler alert: The job market still sucks. I’ll be doing a business expansion announcement in the near future.) Of course, the problem with that move—other than the loss of sanity from not writing regularly—is that I now have a huge gap between releases. The last book in my paranormal series went live in March, and I definitely won’t have a new release ready by the time March rolls around again. More than a year between books? Ouch! Farewell, brand recognition. So, that’s my insecurity this month. Thankfully, my current WIPs are in different genres (a superhero graphic novel and a disaster novel), so I would have to reach out to new audiences anyway. I just feel I’ve lost what little ground I’ve already fought so hard to gain... Question of the WeekHave you ever taken a break from writing or publishing?
